I personally think sandmen's attitude stinks... voting on what the league wants then saying next season I'll do what I want anyway is not the way this league should be run. If the league votes on something and everyone says no then it should not come into effect at all. Read my first post. I never called for a vote.

Not a vote, but you asked if there were any objections: Anyone object to allowing the SuperFight Champion to participate in the GP, with his title on the line every time he fights? You received objections; a majority of them. What GAP said is valid, whether it was a vote or not.

Yes. I asked if anyone objected. That's it. Because people objected, I held off on implementing the change this season. I will re-consider implementing it next season. I was in no way committed or obligated to do this. Asking if anyone objects in no way is calling for a vote (You will notice it was not posted in the Official Poll section). It is also in no way a commitment or responsibility on my part to modify my plans for the league as a result. You have just grown accustomed to me doing so.
Fact of the matter is, if I want to keep setting time away from my family, daughter, friends, etc. to sim this site for mostly casual/inactive people, I must be getting something out of it personally to keep the interest and investment worth it. It sucks, but it's a sad fact of the sim world. And as I said before, if I feel I am not getting that, it doesn't matter what popular opinion is, I'll have to make unpopular decisions to keep the site alive. Rather have a site of half-unhappy people then a dead site with no one at all.

As for something to make things better... what if all fights in gp are open weight. You would send in who would be in fight #1 and who would be in fight #2... might make it a bit more interesting. Though this idea is interesting (and thank you for taking the time to submit an idea), I think it has a plethora of problems. Namely, when the whole league was open weight, the heavyweights seemed to win the majority of the time. Generally speaking, HWs seem to have an advantage over lighter weight classes. So the liklihood of the team with the most good HWs winning the GP would be unnaturally high. Second, that would be in no way indicative of who has the best overall, well-rounded team. Again, just HWs, or what ahve you. Further, it brings about a problem with women (do you submit 4 open weights and 1 woman?). I think already we have a bias towards upgrading HWs over LWs (since more people have heard of the HWs type thing), and GP is yet another way we encourage people to develop everyone in a well-rounded way, not just HWs. It would lead to some more interesting, random matches though. Though I generally think the problems outweigh the positives here, I am still interested in what others think of this idea.

With the amount of bullshit that has come and gone on this site, I would have definitely packed it in years ago - and it's only 3 years old. I say maybe people should be a bit more supportive of the person who does 96% of the things on here to make the fun things enjoyable, instead of ragging on him for the 3% of pills you don't like to swallow. I'd take those benefit odds any day of the week.

I'd take those benefit odds any day of the week. I get what you're saying, but it's not for a lack of appreciation of what he does to make the site enjoyable; we all appreciate that. It's just that it's helluva lot more than 3% of times that it's been pills we "don't want to swallow" with a few members, myself included. It comes to how he conducts himself in these situations too. If it's one of us that comes up with a suggestion or an idea that he doesn't like, for whatever reason, it usually ends up that he ridicules you for it and it comes down to a passive/aggressive argument against it on his part, that folks end up taking "his side" on rather than listening to the actual facts and it gets "voted" down because it becomes a popularity contest between him and whoever, instead of being about the actual issue... OR he suggests something, and just institutes it immediately without any discussion or real thought put into it, even if there's opposition to it. This time, he was actually told by the league that they don't want this particular thing to happen; by a majority... but instead of accept that and "suck it up and come up with something else", like he's told many of us to do on numerous occasions when our ideas or suggestions get shot down, he's just going to ignore that and push it through if he wants to for next season even though most of the league said: "No. We don't want this.". How do you appreciate that Mike?

"Many of us" don't sim. "Many of us" don't come anywhere near spending 3-5 hours A DAY working on this site in some capacity. I appreciate everyone, but there's a world of difference between popping on ManMMA 3-4 times a week to upgrade a fighter and essentially taking on the site as a 20-30 hour a week job. Once "many of us" step up and take on the jobs I WANT to be able to do on ManMMA but simply don't have time to do, THEN Justin can focus on what "Many of us" want moreso then what he needs to do to stay interested in 30 hours a week of ManMMA work. Do you have any idea how many ideas I have for this site we cannot do for no other reason then no time? It makes me sad. If we had the staff support here, this site would be unreal. Thus, alas, we are stuck with whatever dictator Justin decides he has to do, because, alas, dictator Justin is doing 80% of ManMMA on his own (Mike does 15% and Kruze does 5%). When you look at those numbers, the weighted vote in this "poll" is actually much different, isn't it? Anyways, were this a real democracy, I would vote for all kinds of other people to do some jobs that are not getting done so we could do so much more. So welcome to the Justatorship, and get comfy, cause as much as I would like to give up some responsibilities and do other cool stuff concurrently here, no one steps up or has (makes) the time.

When you look at those numbers, the weighted vote in this "poll" is actually much different, isn't it? Not really, no. We do work for the site. It's for the site, not just for ourselves, but for everyone on the site... and if the rest of the site tells you "no, we don't like that.", then you don't do it. It's the same as any time anyone else that makes a suggestion that gets nixed or isn't liked, you don't do it and either come up with a new idea/different idea or move on. Just like you tell everyone else when that happens. Going ahead and doing it anyways, just makes you a hypocrite.

the rest being 1 person more than the other rest that said do it. it was barely a majority, and the vote didn't really matter, and most that voted against were either you or guys that are just never here, so who cares? lol the only opinion i valued was yours. i disagreed. ill take a hypocrite who enjoys his site and continues to sim and allow me to play on it than a bunch of no-show members trashing and rejecting everything and citing rules and calling that fun.

He asked if anyone objected to his idea. More people objected than didn't, and it wasn't all of them that were part-timers either. Simple. The guy gets pissed off when we complain about something we don't like, and we ask for a change... only to be laughed at, ridiculed and belittled for offering idea and subsequently it gets turned down because it gets turned into "we vs. they" senario that it never was in the first place. But now, the moment one of his own ideas actually gets turned down by the league, he pouts about it and then turns around and basically says "Well, fuck you guys... I'm going to do it anyways, whether you like it or not." Really?! Yeah, that's to the benefit of the league... so is trying to guilt people by threatening that he could just shut it down if he doesn't get his way. Yet a number you folks say I'm a whiny bitch about stuff most of the time. lol But on the flipside, when he pulls shit like this and pouts about it, somehow it's perfectly ok?! Priceless.

I'm not pissed off at all. The fact that you refuse to let any of this go leads me to believe you are though. Nothing said here (especially by you) is going to change this. I've stated what I'm doing, and I'm going to try my best to be interested in GP this season. If it's not working, it's not working. Fact is, no matter what a league vote is, if something is game-breaking, none of that matters. Just like suggestions that I am unwilling to do because of time constraints. They may be the best suggestion ever - but if they take me more time than I have available, they will not be implemented. Simple. No pissed off, no bitching, no whatever the fuck you are on about involved.
Simple, clean, site-mechanics.
