So here's what we have decided we are doing for coaches.
1) You acquire a coach.
2) The coach gives you bonus points every season you have them, diminishing by 1 point every year until they pay off 1 point every year.
3) The coaches and their payouts can be found here.
BUT, there is one last thing to be determined.
Based on 5 pages of discussion and Phoenix's ongoing objection to the idea that coaches just simply be drafted, I came up with the following alternative:
Instead of buying a coach with a draft pick at a pre-established price, if people were interested, we could go the "PR Route".
Many of you are familiar with this from Hockey sim sites, but if not, here's the gist:
- Every coach would be a free agent.
- If you want a coach, you PM their representative an offer (I would represent them). For this site's purposes, the offer would be how many points you would give for them. Length would not be a part of this - you still have your coach until you fire them.
- Your offer could also include a brief write-up about why that coach would be particularly happy working with your team, and why they should sign with you. With this info, combined mostly with the points you are offering, coaches would decide who to sign with.
Since xx - Former Phoenix Fight Club's objections mostly had to do with the lack of realism with simply buying a coach, this solves that on up and also takes the element of luck & chance out of simply drafting someone.
So, now onto the poll question: How would you like to see coaches managed:
Option 1 - A draft, where you purchase coaches for pre-established prices
Option 2 - PR-style signing, where the open market determines the cost of a coach.
Option 3 - I am perfectly and equally happy with either of the above options.
